Purrfect for Two: A Customized Living Space for Owner and Cat

This 40 square meter living space, aptly named "Purrfect for Two," presents a clever solution to the challenge of limited space. The design takes advantage of a 60cm height difference, dividing the area into two levels. The lower side is dedicated to the cat, featuring lower staircases and a hole in the wall near the entrance for easy access. Meanwhile, the upper level provides a comfortable living space for the owner.

One of the standout features of this design is the wavy flow that meanders through the space, serving as the axis of the design. This unique layout prevents the formation of too many corners, creating a sense of fluidity and openness. The smooth flow enhances the overall aesthetic and functionality of the space.

The color scheme of the public area is dominated by a dark grey tone, which sets a sophisticated and elegant ambiance. The use of materials such as coating, wood flooring, glass bricks, and plaster adds texture and depth to the space. In contrast, the private area is adorned with touches of dark pink, adding a touch of warmth and personality.

Natural light floods the space through two French windows, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere. To further enhance the lighting, embedded streamlined lights are strategically placed to illuminate specific areas.

The design also incorporates a large curved sofa, positioned between the wall and the staircases. This allows for optimal enjoyment of the sunlight at the corner of the room. The spacious design of the sofa provides ample seating for friends and family to gather, and it can also serve as a comfortable bed for guests.

Completed in January 2021 in Taipei, Taiwan, "Purrfect for Two" showcases the skillful balance between functionality and aesthetics. The designer's meticulous attention to detail and innovative use of materials and techniques have resulted in a truly unique and personalized living space.

This exceptional design has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022.
